Carla Marinucci: UPDATE - Gore cancels appearance at Boxer fundraiser
I just got a call from Vice President Al Gore. He told me that he needs to travel abroad tomorrow for an exciting and urgent mission that could result in a major breakthrough in the fight against global warming. Unfortunately, this means that we must postpone our Thursday, October 11th event with him until Friday, November 9th. I wanted to be sure to e-mail you tonight in case you were planning on attending. While I am really disappointed that we won't see Al Gore until next month, I am thrilled that he is continuing to provide critical leadership to address one of the most pressing issues of our time. You should know that only the most urgent global warming mission has called him out of the country. I look forward to seeing you on November 9th so we can all hear first-hand about Al Gore's latest exciting initiatives.

Craig Bellamy on his future and the Blues
How they play their footy, the financial thing will come into it. Everybody says money is not important but it plays some importance. "With the Brisbane thing, obviously I had a wonderful time there. It was a learning experience and a great time for me. But I think we've got something pretty special at Melbourne with the players we've got, the culture, or the attitude, is pretty good. "But again, both my kids are up in Brisbane and I haven't lived near them for a while so that would be one attraction of Brisbane. "There's a lot of things to consider and I'll consider them when it's time to consider them, but I don't think with two years to go on a contract is the time to consider that." You won't go to Melbourne for a release if Brisbane approach you? "Not at this stage, no.
From Japan, fan answers Hawks' call
Frenzied fans from Bellingham to Chehalis will roar with all their might Saturday as the Seahawks clash with the Green Bay Packers. But one Tacoma native has emerged as an intrepid, dyed-in-the-blue-wool fan, a man who wouldn't let jet lag, money or the vast Pacific Ocean stop him from watching pigskins spiral. Consultant Ross Wakefield, 36, flew 12 hours from Tokyo to watch the Seahawks play at Green Bay's Lambeau Field. "Everybody in Japan thinks I'm a freak," he said in a phone interview, adding that he has flown back for six home games this season. "They say, 'How can you travel back and forth for a game? It's just a game.' " His reasons for flying to Chicago and driving about three hours to Green Bay are clear: "When I was a kid, my family was poor.
